João Pedro Braga is a Brazilian economist deeply committed to the field of sustainable development. He holds a Master's degree in Economic Policies for the Global Transition (EPOG+) and started his training in economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In 2023, João joined University College London (UCL) to pursue a PhD at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP). His research focuses on addressing global economic inequalities within the context of the ecological crisis. Specifically, his PhD work revolves around the financial drivers of deforestation and the imperative of financing a 'just transition' in Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest. This mission aligns closely with the SPA's mission to make clear the scientific, economic, and moral case for conservation in the Amazon.
