Gustavo Nascimento

Gustavo Nascimento is an Environmental Studies and Anthropology student at Brandeis University, with a strong commitment to environmental and social justice. He founded a reforestation project in São Paulo, mobilizing over 100 volunteers to plant 9,000 native plants to restore part of the Atlantic Forest. He was also actively involved in the Amazônia de Pé campaign, gathering 5,000 signatures to support the protection of the Amazon Rainforest. Gustavo's internship at Smithsonian Gardens deepened his expertise in sustainable landscapes and public garden management. He also worked with UNEP's Children and Youth Major Group, advocating for youth leadership in global environmental policies. His research focuses on the Rights to Nature movement and preserving oral traditions to foster cultural continuity while driving environmental protection.
