Criseyda Román Córdova

Peru

Criseyda Román Córdova is originally from the San Martín region of Peru, and deeply rooted in the Peruvian Amazon. She studied Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae, in her own region, where she had the opportunity to participate in the implementation of international cooperation projects focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Through these programs, she has played an active role in mentoring community leaders, focused on developing resilient agricultural systems, fostering social inclusion, and empowering rural women, while protecting biodiversity and promoting the circular economy in rural and indigenous communities in the Alto Mayo Valley. Her visionary approach and passion for sustainability, aligned with climate change mitigation and the preservation of Amazonian ecosystems, have led her to found and direct the Non-Governmental Civil Association, Centro de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Amazonía. Through this organization, we continue to move towards a local transition towards more resilient and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
